We used to have a cheaper version of our DIY Kits (although I can’t remember exactly how much it was) that included raw wood – so that it wasn’t cut to size with mitered corners. But it didn’t sell very well as most people opted for the pre-cut kit. So we stopped offering that a year or so ago. Currently our DIY kits start at $39. We’ve got several coupon codes floating around that will bring that down a bit as well. Let me know if you have any more questions! Thanks, Kevin

Thanks. I’ll have to talk to the boss, but I may just make a command decision on my own. I like the ammo can idea, it’s really unique

Hey John, thanks for the comment. That sounds like a M2A1 size ammo can (often referred to as the .50 cal ammo can) – what we refer to as The 50 size. They measure around 12″ long x 6″ deep x 7″ tall. We are currently able to make any new DIY kits due to our equipment being in storage after a recent move from North Carolina to Virginia. We are in the process of looking for new workshop space here in Virginia and hope to resume DIY kit production in the next few weeks. I’ll be sure to let you know when that happens. Thanks and let me know if you have any more questions.

Ammodor,
Thanks for fast reply! I am trying to get on with my Military retirement project Humidor. Guess I will start the paint, art work, and personalized can work while I wait for word on the DYI Kit. I measured the can and your correct 12″ long by 8″ to edge deep. Please send me an email when you have word. Appreciate the info!

I really liks the idea of a DIY kit that costs around $25- $40 but just wondering what type of wood your using as spanish cedar wood is kind of expansive. If i were to order it myself from another bissiness what would it cost per box just in the spanish cedar wood cut to size???

Hello Jason, yes our wood is 100% fine quality Spanish Cedar. It’s 1/4″ solid wood and not veneer or cheap plywood. We purchase in bulk and have it milled specifically for us. You’d probably pay more to purchase the wood alone from another company in smaller quantities. Our kits come with all the materials and accessories (glue, sandpaper, humidifier, etc) needed to convert your ammo can into a humidor and comes ready to assemble with no additional tools required.
