Now you can purchase all the materials and hardware needed to build your own ammo can cigar humidor in any popular ammo can size. It’s a quick, fun and inexpensive project that you can do in an afternoon – no tools required and no previous experience with woodworking needed.*
Our “The 50” size ammo can humidor DIY Kits include the following:
- 1. Two long side wall pieces and two short side wall pieces of 1/4″ solid wood Spanish Cedar. Professional cut to size with 45 degree corners added.
- 2. One bottom/floor piece of 1/4″ Spanish Cedar veneered plywood.
- 3. A self adhesive piece of olive drab green felt for the bottom of your humidor – to prevent it from scratching table top surfaces.
- 4. A syringe of Titebond III wood glue to use during assembly. It’s the strongest, FDA approved food safe, low-VOC/odorless and non-toxic glue you can get!
- 5. A piece of 180 grit sandpaper to use for final sanding.
- 6. Detailed instructions on how to assemble can be found here.
- 7. Unlimited support and one-on-one guidance from an Ammodor expert should you have any questions during assembly.

The 50 DIY kit was a lot of fun to put together, It was not difficult to assemble, required very little trimming to fit my can. It’s been a conversation piece everywhere I’ve taken it, and the envy of my buddies??? The only thing I would say negative about the kit would be the floor piece was much thinner than the wall pieces. I had assumed that they would all be the same thickness, but regardless it’s still badass!
I’d defiantly recommend to anyone who likes diy projects, and to save some money.

I bought my 2nd DIY 50 this time as a birthday gift for my cousin. It arrived as before well packaged, Great quality kit. It took very little trimming to fit my ammo can, but the finished product was well worth it. it holds humidity very well with Boveda 69% humidity packs. My cousin loves his Ammodor I built him from this kit. Ammodors are great when your on the go, camping, on the beach of over in the sandbox.

Bought the 50 DIY ultimate kit to install in a new Cabela’s 50 cal. can – no trimming was necessary. Following the handy YouTube instructions, the cedar glued up and fit fine without a problem. Masking off both sides of each glue joint makes for a cleaner job and more visually appealing final product – it’s worth the extra effort. After seasoning the cedar by lightly wiping down with a damp rag, then Boveda packs, and calibrating the hydrometer, I was in business within 48 hrs. With the double Boveda wooden holder & 2 – 69% humidity packs, the humidor quickly settled in and is holding steady around 69-70% while holding close to 50 cigars.
If you want a tough, no nonsense, just get it done humidor, just buy one of the kits or a ready made can – you won’t regret it!

My 2nd Ammodor kit for a 50 cal. can. With my first Ammodor full, I needed more room to store more cigars. It was a no brainer to get another Ammodor. If you want a tough, no nonsense humidor that just works and is a great conversation piece – look no further. The kit really isn’t hard to glue up, especially the 2nd time. Assuming you use a new or at least a used ammo can with a good intact rubber seal, you should not have humidity issues. Use a calibrated hydrometer and some Boveda packs and you should be good to go. With a well sealing can, your Boveda packs will last you many, many months before they need to be recharged or replaced. You can certainly spend more and/or get a fancier humidor, but you can’t buy better than what a Ammodor will do for you!

Instructions and videos were extremely helpful. All materials necessary to construct the cedar insert was provided, including the wood glue. Took maybe 10 minutes to put together, and then dried overnight.
